Spring has sprung, and your Delaware Heating & Air service professionals are here and ready for it! Before temperatures get too hot, now is the time to exercise a little TLC for your residential HVAC system. A little care and preparation go a long way in setting up your HVAC system to run efficiently this season. If you like using checklists and keeping track of what needs to be done for the upcoming seasons, then keep reading. And if you don’t, then using the following list will make it that much easier for you!
Did You Remove the Condenser Cover?
First, if you use a protective covering for your outdoor unit, also known as the condenser, you want to make sure that you remove it before utilizing your cooling unit this season. This may sound simple, but it is often forgotten!
Did You Clear the Condenser Area?
The vicinity around the condenser needs to be clear from all obstructions. This means that anything that can get sucked in and caught in the condenser blades needs to be removed from the surrounding area. So we recommend making sure no weeds or plants are growing around the area. You will also want to keep the site clear of any items or obstructions.
Did You Vacuum the Vents?
Vents tend to attract dust. So, it would be good to clear away those dust bunnies before you start heavily using your air conditioner this season. Otherwise, they may just blow all around your house, circulating in the air freely. You can tackle this task with a vacuum. And if the vents need additional cleaning, they can be wiped down with warm soapy water.
Did You Test the Thermostat?
It’s always a good idea to start off the season with a fresh pair of batteries. Usually, a thermostat will give you a warning before the batteries give out. However, it is possible that this could happen while you are away from the house, perhaps on a trip or at work during the day. Can you imagine how uncomfortable it would be coming home to a hot, stuffy home all because the batteries died? You can prevent this by simply switching out your current batteries for a fresh pair. Then you won’t have to worry about your thermostat suddenly malfunctioning.
Did You Schedule Your spring Tune-up & Safety Check?
You might think getting your air conditioning system serviced for a spring tune-up & safety check isn’t necessary. However, we beg to differ! Just like you take your vehicle into the auto shop to get checked and tuned up, you want to do the same for your cooling unit. It is, after all, a complex piece of equipment that affects the safety and wellbeing of you, your home, and your family. Having your spring maintenance done yearly also guarantees the manufacturer’s warranty stays active. So, if you haven’t scheduled one already, call us today, and we will get you taken care of!
Did You Hear About Our Service Maintenance Agreement?
In case you haven’t yet heard about our Service Maintenance Agreement plan, there are many benefits that make it worth looking into. An SMA, which is short for Service Maintenance Agreement, includes two seasonal tune-up & safety checks. One is for your cooling unit in the spring, and one is for your heating unit in the fall. The one-time price you pay for the year is a discounted rate instead of paying individually for the seasonal maintenance checks. You can call us for more information, and we will be happy to discuss the benefits of purchasing an SMA with you.
